Under the Article 70 of the RA Constitution, on the initiative of the RA Government on May 12 an extraordinary sitting of the RA National Assembly was convened by the initiator’s established agenda.

In the name of the National Assembly the NA Speaker Galust Sahakyan thanked the deputies of the parliament of the USA State of California for adopting the Resolution recognizing the independence of Artsakh.

The NA Speaker has informed the attendees that the member of the PAP faction, the deputy Grigor Grigoryan has submitted resignation, then he reminded that, under the NA Rules of Procedure, the deputy’s authorities will be suspended, if he does not take his resignation back during 15 days after submitting it.

The NA Speaker Galust Sahakyan also has informed the attendees that Vahram Baghdasaryan has been elected head of the RPA faction, and Gagik Melikyan – secretary of the faction.

The NA deputies approved the NA decisions on the special order of the debate of a number of the draft laws and on the special procedure of holding an extraordinary sitting.

The National Assembly continued debating the bill “On Amending the RA law on Accumulating Pensions.”

Artsvik Minasyan (ARF faction), Levon Zurabyan (ANC faction), Mikayel Melkumyan (PAP faction), the Chairman of the NA Standing Committee on Social Affairs Hakob Hakobyan and the Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Artem Asatryan expressed their views on the draft law.

The National Assembly also debated the package of bills “On Amending the RA Law on the State Register of Population,” “On Amending the RA Law on Consular Service,” “On Amending the RA Law on Conscription,” “On Amending the RA Code on Administrative Infringements,” “On Amending the RA Customs Code,” which submitted the RA Deputy Foreign Minister Shavarsh Kocharyan.

The RA Deputy Minister of Justice Arman Tatoyan submitted for the first reading the package of bills “On Amending the RA Criminal Code,” “On Amending the RA Code on Administrative Infringements,” “On Amending the RA Electoral Code” and “On Amending the RA Electoral Code.”

The debate of the issue will continue at May 13 NA extraordinary sitting.
