On September 19 in the RA NA Gilded Hall within the framework of the forum of the representatives of the structures of awareness on the Armenian problems “Ahead of the 100^th Anniversary of the Armenian Genocide” a discussion was held on the theme “The Problems of People’s Diplomacy,” which were attending members of the RA NA Standing Committee on Foreign Relations, heads of the RA NA delegations in international organizations, members of the Armenian Cause Committee, AGBU representatives, clergymen, members of the parties and others.

Opening the work of the forum the RA Minister of Diaspora Hranush Hakobyan presented the guests and the procedure of holding the forum.

Welcoming the guests in the parliament the RA NA Vice President Hermine Naghdalyan read the address by the RA NA President Hovik Abrahamyan. By the NA President’s assessment, in contrast with other organizations functioning in the world, the creation of the informing about the Armenian problems is mainly conditioned by a painful reality: the genocide perpetrated towards the Armenians in Ottoman Turkey in 1915. This tragedy became a motivating force for the creation of different structures, where the united individuals’ goal was to to reach the recognition and condemnation of the crime having no precedent in the world. With the efforts of those structures the process of internationalizing the Armenian Genocide began and continues, and its legal and moral fair solution is not far. The expansion of the geography of the recognition of the Armenian Genocide is not only in the moral plane, but also it’s legal, because not recognizing the genocide perpetrated towards the Armenian people means creation of atmosphere of impunity and perpetration of new genocides. The Republic of Armenia is just led by this approach, as because of not being recognized and condemned in time the crime perpetrated against humanity in 1915 paved a path for genocides and ethnic cleansings during the 20^th century. The address says that nowadays lack of tolerance is also felt, as a consequence of which attempts are made to reach the solution of problems through use of force, terrorism and violence. The mission of the structures being involved with the problems of pan-Armenian sounding has begun but it does not only end by the problem of recognition of the Armenian Genocide. “In the rapidly changing world the Republic of Armenia and the Armenian people face new challenges which demand not only continuous actions, but also a new work style,” the address says. Among the prior problems facing the country Mr Abrahamyan has noted the solution of the NK conflict in favour of Armenia and the de jure recognition of the Nagorno Karabakh Republic as a sovereign state. “This supposes a more organized and expedient work for the sake of the Armenian people and Armenian statehood,” the address said. Thanking the forum participants for their patriotic activity Mr Abrahamyan has expressed conviction that due to continuous and consistent activity the structures being involved with Armenian problems will succeed.
