On June 19 the members of the NA Standing Committee on Health Care, Maternity and Childhood met with Zsuzsanna Jakab, Director of the Regional Director for Europe of the World Health Organization (WHO) .
Welcoming the guests the Committee Chairman Ara Babloyan presented the works of the Standing Committee on Health Care, Maternity and Childhood and the legislative reforms being implemented.
Mrs Jakab presented their main problems and the goal of the visit. In Zsuzsanna Jakab’s word, one of the main goals of their visit is to support the legislative initiatives in the sphere of health care and cooperate with the National Assembly. She said that the WHO Barcelona Office was ready to support Armenia in financing the health sphere and formation of the effective system. To her conviction, the main focus should be on quick prevention of diseases and early revelation, implementation of the public health care programs, highlighting the means of fighting against tobacco.
Ara Babloyan noted that the National Assembly had adopted numerous laws in the context of the implementation of the reforms in the sphere, but there were things still to be done in that sphere. In particular, amendments were made in the legislation concerning the HIV/AIDS, taking steps in eliminating discrimination. Regarding the vaccinations, Mr Babloyan has noted that high degree of involvement is available in the RA, and they are pleased with the indices.
In the course of the meeting the sides discussed numerous issues related to the sphere of health care.
