On June 14 the Chairman of the NA Standing Committee on Defense, National Security and Internal Affairs Koryun Nahapetyan met with the members of the OSCE Administration and Financing Advisory Group, which represents the OSCE 18 member countries.
The members of the OSCE Advisory Group have said that the goal of their regional visit is to get acquainted on spot with the OSCE mission and programmes being implemented, which later will become a basis to discuss their united budget and assess the efficiency of the further investments. In particular, they have noted that they got acquainted with the procedure of implementation of one of the programmes in Armenia and they are very pleased with the results.
At the guests’ request Koryun Nahapetyan presented the cooperation directions of the Committee with the OSCE Yerevan Office. He especially highlighted the professional and technical support of the Yerevan Office to the parliament in the spheres of defense and police for efficiently organizing parliamentary oversight, protection of human rights and struggling against corruption. Koryun Nahapetyan has informed the attendees that as a result of that cooperation the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the Geneva Centre of the Democratic Oversight of the Armed Forces and the Committee, according to which, the sides cooperate in the direction of the rise of the legislative process efficiency, the elaboration and the investment of the civil oversight procedures in the armed forces, as well as the organization of the visits of the law enforcement bodies to different institutions and the implementation of expertise works.
Koryun Nahapetyan also answered the questions concerning the guests.
