On September 25 at the NA Standing Committee on Protection of Human Rights and Public Affairs a meeting was held with a number of NGOs. Welcoming the guests the Committee Chairperson Elinar Vardanyan attached a great importance to the cooperation with NGOs in terms of the consideration of various legislative initiatives. The representatives of the NGOs in their turn highlighted the meeting, noting it as a good opportunity for submitting problems concerning them and their initiatives to the National Assembly.
The participants of the meeting expressed their concerns over a number of legislative initiatives. In particular, the representatives of the NGOs were unanimously against the draft law envisaging amendments to the RA Law “On NGOs” and drew the committee’s attention to their observations and concerns on the RA laws “On Freedom of Conscience and Religious Organizations,” “On Domestic Violence,” “On Provision of Equal Rights and Equal Opportunities for Women and Men.”
At the end of the meeting the Committee members promised the NGOs to be useful, creating wider opportunities for the discussion of problems raised by them. According to Elinar Vardanyan, they are ready to regularly meet and discuss the problems concerning them.
