On April 3 the RA NA Speaker Samvel Nikoyan received the Prime Minister of the Republic of Bulgaria Boyko Borisov. Welcoming the visit of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Bulgaria to the National Assembly, Mr Nikoyan has noted that such meetings give good opportunity for discussing the ways of the development of the relations between the two countries and touching upon the agenda bilateral items. In the NA Speaker’s word, though during the recent period the potential of cooperation has not been fully used, Armenia is ready to discuss the existing all items in the atmosphere of mutual understanding and on mutually beneficial bases to drive forward the bilateral political dialogue and the cooperation in different spheres. He has mentioned with satisfaction that Inter-Parliamentary Friendship Groups have been formed in the two parliaments. Now there is a task to enliven the cooperation also in this framework.
Both sides highlighted the necessity of deepening the inter-parliamentary cooperation and the organization of the mutual visits. The NA Speaker underlined the importance of activation of efforts in conducting economic mutually beneficial cooperation, noting the readiness of the parliaments to support the initiatives of the executive bodies.
According to the Head of the RA Parliament, the study of the experience of the European integration of the countries, which have recently joined the European Union, is of special importance for Armenia and their support to Armenia within the EU framework.
Mr Nikoyan expressed satisfaction for the care shown by the Bulgarian authorities towards the Bulgarian Armenians’ cultural heritage and historical-cultural monuments.
The Prime Minister of the Republic of Bulgaria Boyko Borisov also touched upon the Armenian-Bulgarian centuries-long friendship and especially emphasized the role of the Bulgarian Armenian community in the life of their country, as well in the reinforcement of the relations between Armenia and Bulgaria. He especially highlighted the development of the bilateral trade-economic relations in the conditions of international financial-economic crisis, where at present the existing potential is not realized at sufficient level. In this respect the Prime Minister of the Republic of Bulgaria stressed the necessity of easing the visas, which would boost the development business, tourism and cultural ties.
He called on the MPs of the two countries to more enliven the mutual contacts, promoting the further strengthening of the Armenian-Bulgarian friendship relations.
In the course of the meeting The RA NA Deputy Speaker Eduard Sharmaznov, Director of Sofia University Ivan Ilchev, Head of the Parliamentary Group of the GERB party being majority in the Parliament of the Republic of Bulgaria Krasimir Velchev also talked about the Armenian-Bulgarian bilateral relations, perspectives of their development. Conveying the greeting of the Head of their parliament to the Armenian counterparts, the latter invited the RA NA Speaker to visit Bulgaria.
