On October 29 RA NA President Hovik Abrahamyan received the delegation headed by the Mayor of Montreal Gérald Tremblay. The Mayor of Yerevan Gagik Beglaryan attended the meeting.
Welcoming the guests Hovik Abrahamyan considered necessary the deepening of the relations with Canada, the activation of the inter-parliamentary relations and as NA President expressed willingness to support boosting the cooperation in different directions. In the context of the development of bilateral relations the NA President highlighted the cooperation between the local self-government bodies and considered as an important step taken in this direction the existing warm relations between Yerevan and Montreal. He expressed conviction that the cooperation established between the sister cities will have its special role in the development of relations between the two countries and peoples. The NA President also emphasized the implementation of the concrete programmes.
Expressing his gratitude for warm reception the Mayor of Montreal considered important the activation of bilateral contacts, the development of cultural and religious tourism, the economic cooperation, which could greatly promote the strengthening of friendly relations between the two countries. Mr Tremblay conveyed the invitation of the President of the Parliament of Canada to NA President Hovik Abrahamyan to pay an official visit to Canada.
