Welcoming those present RA NA Speaker Mr. Hovik Abrahamyan said:
“Dear ladies and gentlemen,
Dear colleagues,
First of all, I would like to thank Mr. Seyran Ohanyan and Mr. Hrayr Karapateyan for organizing this beautiful event.
I am glad to greet you in the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia. The Armenian Parliament, the legislative body of our country, with its activity refers to all the issues concerning our society. Certainly, one of the most important problems of our independent statehood was to ensure by law the organization of the defense of the Motherland, as well as to assist the regular activity of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Armenia.
Our today’s meeting is on the eve of the holiday. Tomorrow, on January 28 we’ll mark the Army Day.
On the occasion of the Army Day we decided to invite to the National Assembly the parents, whose three sons serve in the army at the same time. Those families are 11, and their parents are here.
Dear friends,
We invited you to express our gratitude for right upbringing of your sons. The army is the mirror of our society. Everybody takes with him to the army what he has seen and learnt in his family. The army is everybody’s pride. I am confident that the Armenian people as the apple their eye will cherish the unity of our soldiers, our army.
We are peaceful people: we don’t want war. We want to establish peace with all our neighbours. However, in order to establish and preserve that peace we shall strengthen the Armed Forces of the Republic of Armenia as the most efficient army of the South Caucasus region. The history has been ruthless towards us, and we have learnt quite well our lessons. Today our only hope is to have a strong, powerful and organized army.
Dear parents,
I imagine how difficult it is to be far from your three sons during these long two years of the military service. However, in your eyes I see confidence and resoluteness, and in my opinion, with your behaviour you confirm that you are proud, that is a pride for your sons, your army and your Motherland. We could earn the pride. Personally, for me as Speaker of the National Assembly, your confidence gives new strength to be more decisive, double our efforts in making Armenia powerful and prosperous country. I would like to thank all of you. I, as a parent, would like to have three sons, who at the same time would serve to our Motherland, our army. That is the pride of every family and every parent. And I would like in the name of our all colleagues of the National Assembly to thank you and say that we are next to you and we are proud of those 11 families that we have in our independent Republic of Armenia.”
