On January 27 the Speaker of the National Assembly Mr. Hovik Abrahamyan received the Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran Mr. Manouchehr Mottaki. The latter is in Yerevan for participating in the 9th sitting of the Inter-governmental Commission of Coordinating the Armenian-Iranian relations.
Welcoming the guest and the delegation headed by him Mr. Abrahamyan highly assessed the Armenian-Iranian good neighbourly relations. The RA NA Speaker expressed hope that the Inter-governmental Commission of Coordinating the Armenian-Iranian relations will be a success and will put forward a number of mutually beneficial programmes in the sphere of energy and transport. Then the interlocutors discussed the issues of the agenda of the committee sitting.
In the context of the Armenian-Iranian bilateral relations the interlocutors also emphasized the inter-parliamentary cooperation. The Foreign Minister Mr. Mottaki conveyed the warm greetings of the Speaker of the Iranian Parliament to RA NA Speaker Mr. H. Abrahamyan and reaffirmed the latter’s willingness of making an official visit to the Republic of Armenia, on which preliminary agreement was reached in September 2009 during the official visit of RA NA Speaker to the Islamic Republic of Iran. Mr. Abrahamyan also asked him to convey his warm greetings to the Speaker of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
During the meeting the interlocutors also touched upon the issues of ensuring security and stability in the region.
