On January 23 RA NA Speaker Mr Hovik Abrahamyan signed a decree on setting up a working group for drafting the relevant law on making amendments and addenda in the Articles 225 and 300 of RA Criminal Code.

The head of the working group is Mr Davit Harutyunyan, Chairman of the Standing Committee on State and Legal Affairs of the RA National Assembly. The group involves Mr Armen Rustamyan, Chairman of the Standing Committee on Foreign Relations of the RA National Assembly, Mr Avet Adonts, Chairman of the Standing Committee on European Integration of the RA National Assembly and Mr Artsruni Aghajanyan, Chairman of the Standing Committee on Financial-Credit and Budgetary Affairs of the National Assembly.

The working group was assigned: a/ to make participate in the works of the group the members of the Ad-hoc Inquiry Committee into the Events Occurred on 1-2 March 2008 in Yerevan and Their Reasons; b/ to take into account during the drafting law the criteria stipulated by the precedent practice of the European Court of Human Rights and the issue of complying with the principle of the legal clarity of the law. The head of the working group was assigned to present proposals by February 19, 2009.
