Biography of Armen Roustamyan, Chairman of the NA Standing Committee on Foreign Relations

He was born on March 1, 1960 in the village of Zangakatoun in the Ararat region.
 
He graduated from the P. Loumoumba Moscow University of Nations' Friendship in 1983. He is a physicist.
In 1983-1984 he served in the Soviet Army. In 1984-1991 he was a scientific associate at Yerevan State University. In 1991-1993 he worked as a chief specialist in an Armenian-French joint venture. In 1993-1994 he worked as a scientific associate in Orsay Institute of Theoretical and Applied Optics.

In 1999-2003 he was a deputy of the NA (from the proportional list of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation) and he was Deputy Chairman of the NA Standing Committee on Foreign Relations and a member of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation faction.

On May 25, 2003 he was elected to the NA from the proportional list of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation. He was Chairman of the NA Standing Committee on Foreign Relations. He was a member of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation faction. He is a representative of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation Supreme Body in Armenia.

On May 12, 2007 he was elected as a deputy of the National Assembly from the proportional list of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation.

On June 7, 2007 he was elected Chairman of the NA Standing Committee on Foreign Relations.

He is divorced and has one child.

Biography of Hranush Hakobyan, Chairwoman of the NA Standing Committee on Science, Education, Culture and Youth of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia

She was born in Gavar.

In 1975 she graduated from the Department of Applied Mathematics of Yerevan State University and in 1994 from the Law Department, she graduated from the Academy of Social Sciences under the USSR Central Committee too.

In 1975-1983 she worked as a professor at Yerevan State University.

In 1978-1983 she was the deputy secretary and later the secretary of Yerevan State University LCYU.

In 1983-1985 she was the secretary of the LCYU Central Committee.

In 1985-1990 she was the first secretary and member of All-union LCYU Central Committee Bureau (Moscow).

In 1986-1990 she was a deputy in the Armenian SSR Supreme Council and was a member of the Presidium of the Supreme Council.

In 1990-1995 she was elected as a deputy of the Supreme Council and as Deputy Chairperson of NA Standing Committee on Social, Health Care and Environmental Protection Affairs.

In 1995-1996 she was elected as a deputy of the National Assembly by the majoritarian electoral system and Chairperson of the NA Standing Committee on Social Affairs and Health Care.

In 1996-1998 she was RA Minister of Social Security.

In 1999-2003 she was elected as a deputy of the National Assembly by the majoritarian electoral system, member of NA Standing Committee on Foreign Relations. She was also the secretary of the People’s Deputy group.

On May 25, 2003 she was elected as a deputy of the NA (electoral district # 32). She was the Chairperson of NA Standing Committee on Science, Education, Culture and Youth, member of RPA Faction. In 1995-1997 she was elected as a Deputy Chair of the CIS IPA Committee, from 1996 till now she is a member of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), in 2003-2007 she was the Head of the NA delegation to the Inter-Parliamentary Union, a member of the Coordination Committee for Women's Parliamentarians, Deputy Chairman of the EU-Armenia Cooperation Committee.

She is a member of the board of Yerevan State University, Yerevan Medical University and Gavar State University. She is a member of the board of a number of foundations and non-governmental organizations.She is the President of the Armenian Women's International Association. Together with the American Armenian benefactor Rita Palian, she has established the Armenian-American Health Center.

She is a doctor of law. She teaches at Gavar State University and at the Academy of State Management of the Republic of Armenia.

She is the author of 4 books and more than 40 scientific articles.

She has been awarded an order of People’s Friendship, numerous diplomas, acknowledgement letters and medals.

On May 12, 2007 she was elected as a deputy of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia from the proportional election list of the Republican Party of Armenia. She is non-partisan.

On June 7, 2007 she was elected as Chairwoman of the NA Standing Committee on Science, Education, Culture, Youth and Sport.   

Biography of Avet Adonts, Chairman of the NA Standing Committee on European Integration

He was born in December 27, 1963 in Kiev.

In 1980 he finished the Yerevan A. Chekhov School # 55.

In 1985 he graduated from the Faculty of Economic Cybernetics of Yerevan State University.

In 1985 he worked in the Research Institute of Economics and Planning adjunct to the State Plan of ASSR as an economist.

In 1985-1986 he served in the Armed forces of the USSR.

From 1987-1991 he worked in the Research Institute of economics and planning adjunct to the State Plan of ASSR as an associate researcher, then as head of research group.

In 1991 he worked in the RA Ministry of External Economic Relations as a senior specialist, then as assistant of the Minister.

In 1991 he attended a course of banking in UBS Bank of Geneva.

In 1992-1994 he worked in the division of Bilateral Economic Relations of RA Ministry of Foreign Affairs as a second secretary.

In 1993 he was granted a diplomatic title of second secretary.

In 1993 he attended a diplomatic course in the University of Leeds of Great Britain.

In 1994-1996 he worked in the Armenian Embassy to the Kingdom of Belgium as a second secretary.

In 1996-1998 he worked in the RA Ministry of Foreign Affairs as head of the division of International Economic Organizations.

In 1996 he was granted a diplomatic title of first secretary.

In 1998-2001 he worked in the mission of the Republic of Armenia to the European Union as a councilor, then as an envoy extraordinary and plenipotentiary minister.

In 2001 he was granted a diplomatic title of councilor.

In 2002-2007 he worked in the staff of the President of the Republic of Armenia as Head of the department of External Relations.

In 2003 he was granted a diplomatic title of envoy extraordinary and plenipotentiary minister.

On May 31 of 2007 he was granted a diplomatic title of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary by the decree of the President of the Republic of Armenia.

On May 12 of 2007 he was elected as a deputy of the National Assembly from the proportional electoral list of the Bargavach Hayastan/Prosperous Armenia Party.

On June 7 of 2007 he was elected as Chairman of the NA Standing Committee on European Integration.

He is married, has two children.

Biography of Arevik Petrosyan, Chairwoman of the NA Standing Committee on Protection of Human Rights and Public Affairs

She was born on December 9, 1972 in Leninakan (now Gyumri).

In 1989 she finished the Leninakan school # 1.

In 1989-1994 she studied at the Law faculty of the Yerevan State University and graduated from it with excellence.

In 1994 – 1997 she attended a post-graduate course at the Yerevan State University. In 1997 she defended her thesis “Legal State: General Description, Principles of Organizing and Directions of Activity” and received a title of candidate of Legal Sciences. From 1994 till now she teaches.

She is an author of three works and more than a dozen of scientific articles.

In 2003 Arevik Petrosyan was awarded the scientific title of the Docent of Legal Sciences.

In 1994-1999 she worked in the staff of the President of the Republic of Armenia.

In 1999-2002 she worked as Deputy Minister of Justice of the Republic of Armenia.

She has a title of state councilor of justice of third class.

In 2002, according to the decree of the RA President, she has been appointed as a deputy Chairperson of the Council of Civil Service with a term of 5 years, and on January 15, 2007 – with a term of 6 years.

On May 12, 2007 she was elected as a deputy of the National Assembly from the proportional list of the Bargavach Hayastan/Prosperous Armenia party.

On June 7, 2007 she was elected as Chairwoman of the NA Standing Committee on Protection of Human Rights and Public Affairs.

She has one daughter.

Biography of Artur Aghabekyan, Chairman of the NA Standing Committee on Defense, National Security and Internal Affairs

He was born on November 24, 1963 in the village Mets Taghlar of Hadrut region of Nagorno Karabakh.

In 1986 he graduated from the Polytechnic Institute of Yerevan. He is an engineer electric-technician.

In 1986-1988 he worked as a scientific associate in scientific production union Armvillage-Mechanization.

In 1988-1994 he participated in the liberation struggle of Artsakh, was the first commander of the defense region of Hadrut in NKR, then the head of the 4th division of the headquarters of NKR defense army.

In 1992 he was the Councilor of the first President of the Supreme Council of NKR.

In 1992-1996 he was the commander of the first defense region of defense army of NKR.

In 1997-1999 he was the commander of the first southeastern subdivision.

In 1999 he was appointed Minister of Internal Affairs of NKR by a decree of the President of NKR.

In 1999 he was appointed as Head of Department of Regional Integration of RA Government.

In 2000 he was appointed Deputy Minister of Defense of RA.

In 2000 he was granted a military title of general-mayor by a decree of the President of the Republic of Armenia.

In 2003 he was granted a military title of general-lieutenant by a decree of the President of the Republic of Armenia.

On May 12, 2007 he was elected as a deputy of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia from the proportional list of ARF.

On June 7, 2007 he was elected as Chairman of the NA Standing Committee on Defense, National Security and Internal Affairs.

Awarded the orders Combat Cross Second Degree RA, Combat Cross Second Degree NKR,  medals For Courage, Drastamat Kanayan, souvenir medal Marshal Baghramyan - 100.

Biography of Ara Babloyan, Chairman of the NA Standing Committee on Social Affairs, Health Care and Environmental Protection

He was born on May 5, 1947 in Yerevan.

In 1955-1965 he studied at Yerevan school #76.

In 1965-1971 he studied in the department of pediatrics of Yerevan State Medical University.

In 1970 he worked in polyclinic # 8.

In 1972 he worked in children’s clinical hospital # 1, as children’s surgeon and urologist.

In 1977 he defended a thesis of candidate of sciences in Leningrad, he has been elected as assistant of the chair of Children’s Surgery of Yerevan State Medical University.

In 1982 he was appointed as head of Department of Urology of Yerevan Children’s Clinical hospital # 3.

In 1987 he supported the doctor's thesis in Leningrad Institute of Pediatrics. In the same year he became docent of the chair of Children’s Surgery of YSMU. In 1989 he received the title of professor, in 1997 - 2006 he headed the chair.

In 1989 he passed specialization in Switzerland and Belgium on kidney transplantation. In 1990 he opened the new specialized center of uronephrology and children's surgery.

In 1991-1997 he was Minister of Health Care of the Republic Armenia.

In 2003 he founded the Arabkir Institute of Children and Teenagers’ Health Medical Complex.

In 2006 he was the head of the 1st chair of Pediatrics and Children’s Surgery of YSMU.

In 2003-2005 he was a member of the Standing Commission of WHO European Regional Committee.

He is the Chairman of the Armenian Association of Children's Surgeons, member of European Society of Children's Urologists, EU Association of Children's Surgeons, Association of Switzerland Nephrologists.

He is an author of 3 scientific inventions, 4 monographs and over 160 published scientific works.

In 2000 he was awarded gold medal and honorable letter of YSMU on the occasion of its 70th anniversary. In 2005 he was awarded for his contribution in the field of science and education by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Armenia on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of YSMU. In 2005 he was awarded Yerevan mayoralty letter for diligent work and granting of specialized service in the sphere of public health. In 2005 he was awarded Thankful letter of the National Assembly of RA by the President of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia. In 2005 he was awarded Officier de l'Ordre National Du Merite medal for the development of professional cooperation and Armenian-French relations by the French President J. Chirac. In 2007 he was awarded Mkhitar Heratsi medal by the President of the Republic of Armenia. In the same year he was awarded a medal of the Police of RA For Consolidation of Cooperation.

On May 12, 2007 he was elected as a deputy of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia from the proportional list of the Republican Party of Armenia.

On June 7, 2007 he was elected as Chairman of NA Standing Committee on Social Affairs, Health Care and Environmental Protection.

Ara Babloyan is married, has two children and two grandchildren.

Biography of Vardan Azvazyan, Chairman of the NA Standing Committee on Economic Affairs

He was born on November 7, 1961, in Tabatsghuri village of Borzhomi region of the Republic of Georgia.

In 1978-1983 he studied in the Cattle Breeding and Veterinary Institute of Yerevan.

In 1983 he worked in the milk factory of Yaroslavl as machine operator.

In 1985-1990 he worked in the milk factory of Hrazdan as worker, then as master, head of production unit and chief engineer.

In 1990-1991 he was the chairman of Karansdzav/Cave cooperative.

In 1990-1995 he was the director of Charentsavan Bakery.

In 1995-1996 he was Chairman of City Council of Charentsavan.

In 1996-1999 he was Mayor of Charentsavan.

In 1995-2001 he was deputy of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia.

From 2001-2007 he was the Minister of Environmental Protection of the Republic of Armenia.

On May 12, 2007 he was elected as a deputy of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia from the proportional list of the Republican Party of Armenia.

On June 7, 2007 he was elected as Chairman of NA Standing Committee on Economic Affairs.

In 2004 he was awarded a medal of Police of RA For Consolidation of Cooperation and in 2006 -  Anania Shirakatsi medal.

He is married, has three children.

Biography of Davit Harutyunyan, Chairman of the NA Standing Committee on State and Legal Affairs
He was born on March 5, 1963, Yerevan

In 1975-1980 he graduated from Yerevan Polytechnic Institute of the faculty of the computing technique.

In 1980-1983 he was Post-Graduate Fellow at the Computing Center of the Armenian SSR Academy of Sciences.

In 1982-1988 he studied at the Law faculty of Rostov M. Suslov State University

In 1988-1992 he studied at the Pshycology faculty of Yerevan Kh. Abovian State Pedagogic Institute.

He began his work experience from 1981: Engineer at the Electronic Apparatus Plant of Yerevan, Junior Research Associate at the Computing Center of the Armenian SSR Academy of Sciences, Deputy Director of School No 183 in Yerevan, Director of Yerevan School number 198.

In 1995-1998 he was a deputy of the RA National Assembly, member of the NA Standing Committee on State and Legal Affairs.

In 1997 he was a Chief Adviser to the Mayor of Yerevan.

In 1997-1998 he served First Deputy Minister of Justice of the Republic of Armenia.

In 1998 – 2007 he served as Minister of Justice of the Republic of Armenia

On May 12, 2007 he was elected as a deputy of the National Assembly from RPA proportional list.

On June 7, 2007 he was elected Chairman of the RA NA Standing Committee on State and Legal Affairs.

He was awarded medals For Strengthening Cooperation, For Strengthening the Legal System and Mkhitar Gosh.

He is candidate of technical sciences, and an author of two monographs and more than 20 scientific articles.

He is a member of the Republican Party of Armenia

Biography of Gagik Minasyan, Chairman of the NA Standing Committee on Financial-Credit, Budgetary Affairs of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia

He was born on April 5, 1950 in Yerevan.

He graduated from the Yerevan Polytechnic Institute in 1972. He is an EPM engineer

In 1972-1997 he worked first as an engineer and later - senior scientific associate, head of a subdivision, and then head of the data processing unit at the Yerevan Scientific Research Institute of Mathematical Machines.

In 1998-1999 he was an advisor to the Prime Minister.

In 1997-1999 he was a deputy in the National Assembly (from the proportional list of the Republic bloc). He was a member of the Republic faction and later Yerkrapah Deputy Group.

In 1999-2003 he was in the National Assembly (from the proportional list of the Unity Alliance). He was first a member and later Chairman of the NA Standing Committee on Financial-Credit, Budgetary and Economic Affairs. He was also a member of the Unity Faction.

On May 25, 2003 he was re-elected to the NA from the proportional list of the Republican Party of Armenia and he is the Chairman of the NA Standing Committee on Financial-Credit, Budgetary and Economic Affairs. He is also a member of both the Republican Party of Armenia faction and the political board.

On May 12, 2007 he was elected NA deputy from the proportional list of the Republican Party of Armenia.

On June 7, 2007 he was elected Chairman of the NA Standing Committee on Financial-Credit, Budgetary Affairs.

He is married and has two children.
