Delegation of Luxembourg Hosted in Parliament: We’ll Continue Working with International Colleagues on Unblocking Lachin Corridor and Establishing Peace in the Region
1 / 14

Luxembourg has been and remains an important partner for Armenian. We are resolute to expand and deepen the relations with our European colleagues in the bilateral as well as EU frameworks. Our country highlights the cooperation with Luxembourg also in the context of establishment of democracy and protection of human rights: the Head of the RA NA Armenia-Luxembourg Friendship Group Sona Ghazaryan noted at the meeting with the delegation led by the Deputy Chair of the Bureau of the Chamber of Deputies of Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, Deputy Speaker of Parliament Djuna Bernard on February 27.

As Sona Ghazaryan assessed, in the European Union Luxembourg differs from distinct and targeted messages. Its vivid evidence is considered to be the tough assessments during the 33-day was and during the post-war period. “Luxembourg was addressing targeted in the statements against the war unleashed by Azerbaijan, and in that context we highly appreciate its support,” the Head of the Friendship Group underscored. She added that after war the Azerbaijani armed forces violated three times the RA territorial integrity and illegally invade the sovereign territory of the country. In such fragile security environment Sona Ghazaryan highlighted the implementation of the European Union Civil Observation Mission on the territory of the Republic of Armenia.

The Head of the Friendship Group also touched upon the blocking of Lachin Corridor by Azerbaijan and its humanitarian consequences. In this aspect she underlined the importance of imposing pressures on Azerbaijan by Luxembourg. The MP stressed that Azerbaijan does not implement the decision made by the UN International Court of Justice on Lachin Corridor.

“We’ll continue working with international colleagues on unblocking Lachin Corridor and establishing peace in the region,” Sona Ghazaryan said.

Djuna Bernard underlined that their parliament attentively follows the events taking place in Armenia, the Azerbaijani aggression, the closing of Lachin Corridor and is concerned about this situation. “After the aggression of 2020 we also encouraged the signing of ceasefire, as well as giving status to Artsakh,” the guest said. The Deputy Speaker of Parliament condemned the recent attacks and underscored that they support the decision of sending the EU Civil Observation Mission to Armenia. “We’ll continue supporting the establishment of peace, which will guarantee the territorial integrity of the Republic of Armenia, as well as the right of Armenians residing in Artsakh,” Djuna Bernard documented.

The members of the RA NA Armenia-Luxembourg Friendship Group Arman Yeghoyan, Seyran Ohanyan, Hasmik Hakobyan, Arusyak Julhakyan and Tsovinar Vardanyan took part in the meeting. The members of the Group also referred to the disastrous situation created as a consequence of Lachin Corridor blocking, the protection of Artsakh Armenians’ rights, the urgent return of Armenians held as hostages in Azerbaijan, the normalization process of Armenia-Turkey relations, the joint work of power and opposition on the Armenian agenda, as well as a number of geopolitical and regional security problems.
