Meetings in Vorarlberg

On February 21 during his official visit to Austria RA NA President Artur Baghdasaryan met Anton Engstler, head of Feldkirch regional hospital and heads of different departments of the hospital. Mr. Engstler told about the hospital, which annually serves about 35200 patients. The hospital with 660 beds is a center in the region with 21 departments and 246 doctors working there. In 1991 in this hospital Armenian doctors were trained and returned Armenia. The specialists of Austria were very pleased with the Armenian doctors and stated that they genuinely mastered the professional capabilities and technological skills.


The meetings of February 22 were in the parliament of Vorarlberg region.


The activities of the parliament of the region, political factions and their activities were presented to RA NA President Artur Baghdasaryan.


Richard Amann, Mayor of Hohenems handed a fire car for the works in the mountainous regions, and an agreement was reached on sending 30 more fire cars to Armenia during the year.


In Bregenz complex of festivities and ceremonies the delegation was presented the activities of the tourism system of Vorarlberg region. Franz Zaltzman, director of the management of the House of festivities stated that annually 8million tourist visit Vorarlberg, especially during winter and summer. The region has a developed tourism industry, which provides mainly the budget allocations.


During the meetings with Gebhard Halder, State Parliament President, Peter Bischoff, Deputy Prime Minister and deputies dozens of questions were discussed, which included the enlargement of doctors’ training programme, supplying medical equipment to Armenia (especially for the mountainous regions), supplying fire cars, ambulance, buses, exchange of experience in the educational system (mainly in the general education sphere), cultural exchanges were highlighted (on the Armenian artists’ participation at Bregenz annual festivals) and cooperation in the tourism sphere.


It was noted that Austrian information center has already been opened in Yerevan, and agreement was reached on the enlargement of its activities, including the mentioned all spheres. An agreement was also reached to organize a conference of European Ombudsmen in Armenia. The sides highlighted the establishment of parliamentary cooperation and legal-treaty base for the partnership.


By the proposal of the Austrian side an agreement was also reached  on trade-economic partnership, including the activities of trade-economic chambers and promotion of the development of small and medium entrepreneurship.


Certain agreements were reached on all the discussed problems and the readiness of partnership.


In the evening the delegation will leave for Vienna.
