On March 30 RA NA Speaker Artur Baghdasaryan received Dimitrij Rupel, OSCE Chairman-in-Office, Foreign Minister of Slovenia and the delegation accompanying him.

During the meeting issues related to the fulfilling legislative reforms: in particular, the Constitution and Electoral Code, local-government bodies and judiciary system. During those processes RA NA Speaker Artur Baghdasaryan highlighted the direct joint work with OSCE and PACE experts in the fulfillment of the above-mentioned reforms. In connection with Constitutional reforms, four main problems were lighted: protection of human rights, the establishment of balance between the wings legislative-executive-judiciary power, provision of independence of judiciary power and improvements of local-government system. NA Speaker noted that Armenia fulfills its obligations, approved by schedule, moreover: a working group is set up in the parliament, the aim of which is to comply the legislation of Armenia with the criteria of the European Union.

Expressing his satisfaction on the work done, Dimitrij Rupel, OSCE Chairman-in-Office, Foreign Minister of Slovenia, highlighted that the above-mentioned reforms should be fulfilled according to international criteria. During the meeting the problems of development of Armenian-Slovenian bilateral relations, the exchange of experience and support of Slovenia was highlighted in the sense of developing the cooperation within the framework of the programme “Wider Europe: New Neighbourhood.”

During the meeting the sides discussed other issues of mutual interest.
