On June 2, within the framework of the 27th sitting of the Inter-parliamentary Committee on Cooperation between the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia and the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation the Armenian Delegation met with the First Deputy Speaker of the RF Federal Council Nikolay Fyodorov.
In the course of the meeting the Armenian parliamentarians touched upon the events regarding the tense situation existing in the region and the April aggression unleashed by Azerbaijan, reaffirming the position of the Armenian side that the conflict has and cannot have military solution: Azerbaijan’s any attempt of solving the problem exclusively through peaceful means and denying the internationally assumed obligations is inadmissible.
Presenting her Russian colleague the details of the April military aggression unleashed by Azerbaijan the RA NA Deputy Speaker Hermine Naghdalyan has underlined that Armenia considers unacceptable the denial, the commitments of the solution of the conflict exclusively through peaceful, political means, especially that innocent citizens are victims of this military aggression, including the children. In this context Mrs Naghdalyan highlighted the targeted and distinct assessments of the international community.
The RA NA Deputy Speaker reminded her colleague about the meeting of the Presidents of the two countries held on the initiative of the OSCE Minsk Group Foreign Ministers in Vienna on May 16, during which agreements were reached in monitoring the events of strengthening trust on the line of contact and the establishment of the mechanisms of the events’ investigation, which however, the Azerbaijani officials tried to deny in their statements followed the Vienna meeting: its undoubted evidence is Baku’s policy of adhering to the military course of the conflict solution.
Both sides emphasized the active, coordinated and consistent work of the Armenian-Russian Inter-Parliamentary Committee, which is carried out with the meetings on the agenda items twice a year.
Both parties have underlined that the problems of economic, social, military-political and humanitarian importance were succeeded to keep at the centre of attention.
During the last several years the Committee has put the emphasis on the economic cooperation of the regions of Russia and Armenia.
During the meeting the Co-Chair of the Inter-Parliamentary Committee Nikolay Ryzhkov and the member of the RF Federal Council Igor Chernishenko presented the works of the 27th sitting of the Inter-parliamentary Committee on Cooperation: the first part will be held in Moscow and they will touch upon the developments of Nagorno Karabakh conflict, and the second part - in Kazan and will be related to the possibilities of the development of economic cooperation.
The Armenian and Russian MPs conveyed to each other the greetings of the Speaker of the RF Federal Council and the RA NA Speaker Galust Sahakyan, who wished success to the works of the 27th sitting of the Inter-Parliamentary Committee.
