“Dear compatriots,

I congratulate you on the occasion of Victory and Peace Day.

This holiday is the symbol of our nation’s identity, its unshaken spirit and love of life. Through millennia victory and peace have been complementary factors. Our people have realized that the price of peace is victory, and the pledge of victory is the entire love towards Motherland and unabated perseverance to live and create.

The Armenian people who have seen numerous calamities have never lost faith and optimism, have never become embittered, but have not tolerated evil and violence. During the World War II the Armenian people also had its important contribution in the fight against fascism. Glory and honour to our fathers and grandfathers, who have participated in the Great Patriotic War!

Dear compatriots, in the newest history the crown of our nation’s success certainly was the victory of Artsakh and liberation of Shushi. In this war imposed on the Armenian people they reaffirmed its right of living independent and with dignity. Glory and honour to the brave sons of our nation, ‘Yerkrapah’ freedom fighters, the fathers and mothers, sisters and brothers backing them up, everlasting memory to our martyrs. They are the devoted sons of our nation, and though their contribution has been highly appreciated, their families’ social problems are not fully solved. I am sure that in the coming years state care will be more visible in this issue.

Once again I congratulate you on Victory and Peace Day. Let God allow each of us register victories in our peaceful creative life, build our country and enjoy the sweet fruits of our labour, and if, God forbid, they try to take away our right of living peacefully, let the Armenian watchful spirit rise again among us and drive us to new victories.”
