On May 8 the Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly Eduard Sharmazanov met with the students of Khachatur Abovian Armenian State Pedagogical University.

The NA Deputy Speaker answered the questions concerning the students, which related to the priorities of Armenia’s foreign policy, the process of the peaceful settlement of the Artsakh problem, the international recognition of the Armenian Genocide, the regional and geo-political problems, the regulation of the Armenian-Turkish relations and the significance of the Great Patriotic War and Artsakh war victories.

Touching upon the solution of the NKR problem, Eduard Sharmazanov expressed conviction that like any conflict, the Azerbaijani-Karabakh conflict should also be regulated exclusively through negotiations, and with that respect, Armenia highly assesses the efforts made by the Minsk Group Co-Chair countries. To the Deputy Speaker’s assessment, Nagorno Karabakh should become a negotiating full side, as nobody, except the Artsakh people, are not able to decide the destiny of Artsakh. And by the Artsakh people’s deep conviction, the Republic of Nagorno Karabakh cannot be part of Azerbaijan in any status.

Eduard Sharmazanov also talked about the protocols aimed at the normalization of the Armenian-Turkish relations and Turkey’s denial policy. He has said that in any process of the normalization of the Armenian-Turkish relations any precondition for Armenia is not acceptable, and what refers to the Armenian genocide, it is an undeniable fact, hence that the creation of the committee studying that fact is senseless.

The NA Deputy Speaker congratulated the students on the Victory and Peace Day. He referred to the victorious events of historical importance for the Armenian people, particularly, the victory of the Artsakh war more evaluating Armenia’s independence, the liberation of Shushi and the establishment of newly independent Armenian Army. To the NA Deputy Speaker’s assessment, the state as the owner of those successes, defending and developing them, its all citizens, every Armenian should have not only a distinct realization of creating a stable and competitive country, but also will and persistence to fulfill those ideas. Eduard Sharmazanov conditioned the effective implementation of the all-national problems: strengthening of the country, the international recognition of the Artsakh problem and other national goals, by national unity.
