Public Relations department of the Embassy of Islamic Republic of Iran in Armenia has sent clarification to Haykakan Zhamanak daily.
"Referring to the information entitled 'The Flight Didn’t Take Place' published in daily on June 23, 2009 we state that according to standard diplomatic norms, any country officials’ official visits to other countries are based on the official invitation and scheduled programme.
The visit of honorable Mr. Hovik Abrahamyan on the invitation of Speaker of the Islamic Parliament Mr. Larijani was planned on June 20-21, 2009 but was postponed by the proposal of the Iranian side. So, the material published in the daily, as if 'Mr. Abrahamyan has been phoned from Iran and told that in case he goes there he won’t be welcomed' is completely groundless and contradicts the ethical norms. It’s our request to publish on the same page the explanation of the Embassy concerning the mentioned problem, taking into account the Law on Press and good neighborly relations between the two countries (information for respectable readers of the daily)."
