On April 30, the Head of the RA NA Armenia-France Friendship Group, the Chair of the NA Standing Committee on State and Legal Affairs Vladimir Vardanyan met with the Member of the Committee on Foreign Affairs, Defense and Armed Forces, as well as the European Affairs Committee of the Senate of the Republic of France Ronan Le Gleut.
The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of France to Armenia Olivier Decottignies also took part in the meeting.
The sides underscored the high level of the Armenian-French relations and highlighted its further deepening. In the context of bilateral cooperation, the role and significance of the parliamentary ties was especially valued.
Issues on the Armenia-European Union cooperation, as well as the regional situation were discussed. The interlocutors referred to the necessity of the European Peace Facility, underscored the role of the EU civilian observation mission.
Vladimir Vardanyan expressed his gratitude to his French colleagues for their pro-Armenian activities, assured that our country tries to be close to Europe. Noting that the situation in the region is sensible, the Committee opined that the Armenian side expects assistance, which will give an opportunity to restore the balance in the South Caucasus. “We are trying to go on through path of peace for having stable and lasting peace,” Vladimir Vardanyan underlined.
