Today, Armenia is striving for peace with steady and firm steps. We will steadily go along the path of delimitation of the state border and making security protection of that border a reality. It will give us a legal basis to achieve peace: The Chair of the Standing Committee on Defense and Security of the National Assembly Andranik Kocharyan said this at the meeting with the delegation led by the Head of the France-Armenia Friendship Group of the Senate of France Gilbert-Luc Devinaz.
The MP underlined that France stands by Armenia in all difficult times.
“Currently, the Armenian-French relations are at the highest level,” the Committee Chair mentioned, speaking about the effective cooperation of the parliamentarians of Armenia and France on international platforms.
Armenian-French military cooperation was discussed at the meeting. Andranik Kocharyan singled out the necessity of interaction between the military academies of France Saint-Cyr and Vazgen Sargsyan RA Ministry of Defense.
Referring to the security issues, Andranik Kocharyan underscored that Armenia protects its territorial integrity and the security of its own people, which is the right of every sovereign state.
The Committee Chair spoke about the peace process between Armenia and Azerbaijan, the importance of border delimitation and demarcation.
Touching upon the importance of the EU Observation Mission in Armenia, Andranik Kocharyan highly appreciated France’s support in its implementation.
Expressing gratitude for the reception, the Head of the France-Armenia Friendship Group Gilbert-Luc Devinaz highlighted the reforms implemented in the RA Armed Forces and noted that France is ready to support in this matter. He welcomed Armenia's efforts to establish peace in the region.
The meeting held on April 25 was attended by the Deputy Chair of the NA Standing Committee on Defense and Security Armen Khachatryan, the Committee members Vilen Gabrielyan and Gurgen Melkonyan.
