The MPs, continuing the work of regular sittings, adopted the legislative initiatives debated in the previous days by voting.
The draft of the NA statement on delimitation and demarcation between the Republic of Armenia and the Republic of Azerbaijan proposed as a result of the debate on the urgent topic of problems of delimitation and demarcation between the Republic of Armenia and the Republic of Azerbaijan of public interest was not accepted.
Under the representation of the RA Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Arpine Sargsyan, the Parliament debated the issue of ratifying the Agreement on Collaboration between the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Armenia and the European Union Agency for Law Enforcement Cooperation .
The Agreement aims to establish close cooperation within the law enforcement system with one of the important agencies, Europol.
According to the rapporteur, within the framework of cooperation with Europol, Armenia will appoint a Liaison Officer who will represent not only the RA Ministry of Internal Affairs, but also the unified law enforcement system. The residence of the Liaison Officer will be in the Netherlands.
In her related report, the member of the NA Standing Committee on Defense and Security Kristine Poghosyan presented the endorsement of the Committee. According to the MP, the content of Europol's activity is investigative and analytical. “Unlike Interpol, which is a body endowed with police powers, Europol does not have powers to arrest and interrogate,” the rapporteur underlined.
The draft law on ratifying the Memorandum of Understanding on Security Channel between the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Armenia and European Union Agency for Law Enforcement Cooperation (Europol) was debated, presented by Arpine Sargsyan.
According to the rapporteur, the Memorandum is aimed at supplementing the previously debated Agreement.
The Memorandum envisages ensuring a secure channel relationship with regard to the exchange of information through the Liaison Officer.
The co-rapporteur, the member of the NA Standing Committee on Defense and Security Vilen Gabrielyan voiced the endorsement of the Committee. According to him, the document is an important toolkit in the context of the fight against international crime.
