The MPs debated the addenda and amendments proposed by the Government to the law on the Remuneration of Persons Holding State Positions and State Service Positions in the first reading at the sitting of April 9. It was presented by the Head of the Civil Service Bureau of the RA Prime Minister's Office Vache Qalashyan.
The initiative proposes to increase the coefficients for calculating the basic salary of the Chairman of the Commission on Television and Radio and the member of the Commission. They will be adjusted to the coefficients established for the calculation of the basic salary of the persons holding relevant positions in the Central Electoral Commission. According to the rapporteur, the amendments are implemented taking into consideration the fact that the above-mentioned two independent state bodies have similar functions regarding elections.
The Committee Chair Vladimir Vardanyan presented the endorsement of the Standing (Head) Committee on State and Legal Affairs. According to him, the salary increase is conditioned by the constitutional status of the given body. The MP called on his colleagues to respect the constitutional regulations and the status of independent bodies and to try to ensure adequate remuneration for the Chairpersons and the members of independent bodies.
