Arman Yeghoyan highlights EU assistance to Armenia

You are in Armenia in difficult times for us: Armenia is facing serious challenges: The Chair of the RA NA Standing Committee on European Integration Arman Yeghoyan said this welcoming the newly appointed Head of the EU Delegation to the RA Vassilis Maragos .

The meeting took place on September 26, where the Deputy Head of EU Delegation to Armenia Jan Plešinger, the Deputy Head of EU Mission in Armenia Marek Kuberski, the Deputy Chair of the NA Standing Committee on European Integration Meri Galstyan, the Committee members Sona Ghazaryan, Arsen Torosyan and Tatevik Gasparyan attended.

Vassilis Maragos , thanking the deputies for their warm reception, presented the steps taken by the European Union to meet the needs of Armenian residents displaced from Nagorno Karabakh. The Head of the Delegation noted that there is already a decision to provide 5 million euros for this purpose.

Arman Yeghoyan emphasized the assistance coming from the European Union to Armenia in this difficult period, at the same time underscoring the importance of further investments, the expansion of programmes, which can be facilitated by the regular meetings of the representatives of the EU delegation and the National Assembly.

The MPs highly appreciated the activity of the EU mission. According to them, the opening of new centres in different cities of Armenia will allow more detailed information to be sent to Brussels regarding the situation on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border.

One of the key topics of the conversation was the issue of accelerating the implementation of the Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement (CEPA), a proposal was made to change the road map in accordance with the existing challenges.

Vassilis Maragos presented the priorities of the programmes to be implemented in the near future, his vision regarding the existing problems. A number of agreements have been reached to continue the joint work more constructively.
