RA NA Chief of Staff, Secretary General Vahan Naribekyan Takes Part in Work of Regular Session of Association of Secretaries General of Parliaments

The delegation headed by the President of the RA National Assembly Alen Simonyan is in Indonesia within the framework of the work of the 144th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union.

The Chief of Staff, Secretary General of the RA National Assembly Vahan Naribekyan took part in the opening of the regular Session of the Association of Secretaries General of Parliaments (ASGP) of the 144th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union.

On the first day of the Session, on March 21 the last developments of the Inter-Parliamentary Union were presented, drawing the attendees’ attention to the related targets of the UN Sustainable development goals. The indicators of the democratic parliaments are in the basis of those targets. In this context seven sub-targets were singled out, taking into consideration the availability of the effective, reporting, transparent, responding, inclusive, participating and representation legislative body.

The Chief of Staff, Secretary General of the RA National Assembly Vahan Naribekyan had working meetings within the framework of the first meeting of the Association with the delegations of the staffs of a number of countries, including Germany and Austria.

During the meetings the issues of the creation and enhancing of stable relations between the staffs of parliaments were discussed, and the necessity of contributing to the world best experience for strengthening the capacities of the Staff of the RA National Assembly was emphasized.

The RA NA Deputy Chief of Staff Hegine Khachikyan and the Head of the RA NA Department of Foreign Relations Tigran Seiranian also took part in the work of the Session of the Association of Secretaries General of Parliaments.

The Inter-Parliamentary Union carries out work of revising the manual-handbook for the Staffs of Parliaments of Member States. The document will promote bringing into life the sub-targets and will support the universal implementation of the UN sustainable development goals by parliaments of Member States.
