On January 17, the visit of the RA parliamentary extended delegation to the State of Israel began led by the Chair of the NA Standing Committee on Foreign Relations, the Head of the Armenia-Israel Friendship Group Artak Zakaryan. In the delegation the members of the Friendship Group are the NA deputies Vahram Mkrtchyan, Karen Saribekyan, Tatshat Vardapetyan and Karen Shahmuradyan.

At the joint initiative of the Friendship Groups of the National Assembly and Knesset last year, on September 24, in Yerevan the Armenian-Israeli Public International Forum was established, and its aim was to support and create a platform for cooperation in the most different spheres between the societies of the two countries. To take part in the Second Forum in the Armenian Delegation also left for Israel the Co-Chair of the Forum, Doctor of Political Sciences, Professor, General-Lieutenant Hayk Kotanjyan, the Chancellor of Yerevan State Medical University, Doctor of Medical Sciences Armen Muradyan, Adviser to the Director of the Armenian Public Radio, Journalist of the BBC Russian Service, Culturologist Mark Grigoryan. The Executive Director of the Information and Communication Technologies’ Employees Lilit Gevorgyan, the Adviser to the RA Prime Minister, the Director of the Strategic Initiative Centre Alexander Khachaturyan, the Director of Israel-Armenia Trade Chamber Suren Shahnazaryan, the Head of the Jewish Community Rima Feller-Varzhapetyan, the Honourable Chief Consul of the State of Israel to Armenia Ashot Shahmuradyan.

On January 17, the Delegation had meetings with the leadership of Tel Aviv Assuta Medical Complex, well-known doctors, as well as the officials of the medical education, as a result of which a number of agreements had been reached, which particularly relate to the hospital management, oncolog y and chemotherapy. The issue, according to which in case of choice of every educational module by the Armenian side, it will have programmes consonant with Armenia’s demands, was also discussed.

During the visit the sides also highlighted the implementation of the cultural mutual programmes. As a result of meetings an agreement was reached to organize and prepare Eliya Khahvejian’s photo exhibition showing Jerusalem in the 1930s.

Within the framework of the business sphere the members of the Delegation had a number of meetings, as a result of which an attempt was made to reveal the possibilities of the implementation of the joint programmes in the investments and researches. There were meetings in Nesher Factory, in Kfar Vitkin Agricultural Settlement, the Directorate of Koret Israeli Economic Development Funds, as well as with the representatives of the Investment Bank.

There were also meetings with a number of Israeli representatives of Information Technologies. The abovementioned meetings mainly were of cognitive character, during which the possibilities of cooperation and issues related to the fulfillment of joint programmes.

The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the RA to the State of Israel Armen Melkonyan and the RA Honourable Consul to the State of Israel Tsolak Momjyan also took part in the meetings.
