On October 19, the Chairman of the RA NA Standing Committee on Foreign Relations Artak Zakaryan received Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Slovakia Peter Priputen. The General Consul of Slovakia to the RA Gagik Martirosyan also attended the meeting.
In the course of the meeting the interlocutors talked about the upcoming visit to Armenia of the Speaker of the Slovakian Parliament, noting that it will give a new impetus to the further cooperation between the parliaments of the two countries.
The fact that after the elections a Friendship Group with Armenia had been formed in the Parliament of Slovakia was highlighted. Artak Zakaryan welcomed the activities of the Group and expressed hope that after the parliamentary elections of Armenia the Friendship Groups of the two countries will activate the cooperation in all directions.
During the meeting the parties also touched upon Armenia-European Union relations: Artak Zakaryan presented the procedure of the current phase negotiations of the RA-EU cooperation. The fact that at present Slovakia presides over in EU Council was emphasized.
Thanking Artak Zakaryan for the reception, the Ambassador also attached importance to the upcoming visit of the Head of the Slovakian Parliament to Armenia.
The interlocutors highlighted the cooperation of the parliamentarians of the two countries in PACE, OSCE PA, Inter-Parliamentary Union and the European Parliament.
At the Ambassador’s request, Artak Zakaryan presented a number of problems concerning inner and foreign policies.
