On October 6, the parliament continued the work of the four-day sittings.
The deputies welcomed the teachers and pupils of A. Chekhov N 55 School who visited the parliament within the framework of the RA National Assembly Open Doors programme.
Continuing the debate of the issue of the elections of the members of the RA Central Electoral Commission (CEC), the NA factions presented their viewpoints.
The Head of the Rule of Law Faction Heghine Bisharyan, the Head of the ARF Faction Armen Rustamyan, the Head of the ANC Faction Levon Zurabyan, the Head of the PAP Faction Naira Zohrabyan, the Head of the RPA Faction Vahram Baghdasaryan touched upon the issue under debate and the results of the local self-government elections held in Gyumri and Vanadzor recently.
In his final speech the Chair of the NA Standing Committee on State and Legal Affairs Hovhannes Sahakyan touched upon the political positions sounded in the deputies’ speeches.
The Chair of the NA Ad-hoc Accounting Committee Sukias Avetisyan has informed at the sitting a decision was made to hold the elections on October 6 at 13:30-14:10, in the foyer adjacent to the NA Session Hall.
The draft law on Amending the RA Law on Advocacy was also debated in the second reading.
The RA Minister of Justice Arpine Hovhannisyan presented in the first reading the package of the draft law on NGOs and the enclosed laws.
The MPs voiced numerous interpellations on the legislative proposal, which related to the activities, authorities and goals of the organizations, the organizational-legal form, the terms of the document preservation, the effective use of the law, the affirmation of the principle of transparency in the principles of the NGOs' activities and other issues.
During the sitting Sukias Avetisyan announced the results of the elections of the CEC Chairman and the CEC members. Tigran Mukuchyan was elected CEC Chairman with 96 for and 4 against, and the proposed CEC members were also elected.
On behalf of his colleagues and him the NA Deputy Speaker Eduard Sharmazanov congratulated the newly elected CEC staff and wished them effective work.
On behalf of the CEC members and him the CEC Chairman Tigran Mukuchyan thanked the parliament for the trust, noting that it supposes responsibility.
The Chair of the RA NA Standing Committee on Protection of Human Rights and Public Affairs Elinar Vardanyan presented the endorsement of the Head Committee.
The NA deputies Tevan Poghosyan, Hayk Babukhanyan, Levon Martirosyan, Mikayel Melkumyan and Margarit Yesayan delivered speeches on the package.
