On May 11 at the RA NA Session Hall the founding sitting of Francophone Youth Parliament of Armenia began its work, where the Delegation of the Parliamentary Assembly of La Francophonie (APF) led by the President of Wallonia-Brussels/French Community Parliament Philippe Courard attended. The RA NA Vice President Eduard Sharmazanov and the NA deputies were present at the sitting.
Let us note that the members of Francophone Youth Parliament of Armenia are about 60 Francophone students of 40 higher educational institutions of Armenia.
Welcoming the participants of the sitting the NA Vice President Eduard Sharmazanov has noted that Armenia is one of the countries, where the protection of human rights and the fundamental freedoms, the Christian values are considered prior directions.
In the NA Vice President’s word, today the world lives in hard times. Hence, according to Eduard Sharmazanov, the goal of the MPs bearing the value of Francophone countries, as well as Francophonie should be the protection of human rights and the fighting against terrorism. In this context, Mr Sharmazanov touched upon the terrors of Brussels and Paris, as well as the Karabakh problem.
Wishing fruitful work to the young people Eduard Sharmazanov once again stressed that they should be ready to face the existing challenges.
The Head of the RA NA Delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of La Francophonie Margarit Yesayan, the President of Wallonia-Brussels/French Community Parliament Philippe Courard and the RA Resident Representative to the International Organisation of La Francophonie (OIF), Ambassador Christian Ter-Stepanian delivered welcoming remarks.
At the end of the sitting a Declaration on the principles, goals and the further activities of Francophone Youth Parliament of Armenia was adopted.
Let us remind that in November of 2014 after the Francophonie Summit held in Dakar (Senegal), the main theme of which was the youth as a vector of peace and actor of development, the RA NA Francophone section to the International Organisation of La Francophonie led by Margarit Yesayan, as a result of cooperation with the RA Representative to the International Organisation of La Francophonie initiated the project of creating Youth Francophone Parliament of Armenia.
