On March 30, the NA Deputy Speaker, the Head of the RA NA Delegation to PACE Hermine Naghdalyan, members of the Delegation Naira Zohrabyan, Naira Karapetyan and Vahan Babayan met with the Member of the House of Commons of the United Kingdom, Member of the British Delegation to PACE Mark Pritchard.

Welcoming the guest Hermine Naghdalyan highly assessed the level of the cooperation of the Delegations of Armenia and Great Britain to PACE, expressed her gratitude to the British Delegation for the support shown in PACE January Session.

Mrs Naghdalyan has underlined the importance of the cooperation policy of the Armenian Delegation with PACE and has added that in terms of all obligations assumed in PACE Armenia does a wide-scale of work and is ready to work with the same spirit from now on. Remembering that the mission of PACE is the strengthening of the atmosphere of friendship and trust between the peoples Hermine Naghdalyan expressed conviction that the work of PACE should always go on in the abovementioned way.

The Head of Delegation highlighted the support shown by the Council of Europe to Armenia and noted that especially during the recent years, actively cooperating with PACE Monitoring Committee and the Venice Commission of the Council of Europe, our country took essential steps in making Constitutional reforms. Mrs Naghdalyan has noted that after the Constitutional Amendments,a process of corresponding the legislation with the Constitution is now carried out in Armenia and has touched upon the works underway on the revision of the Electoral Code.

By Naira Zohrabyan’s assessment, by the Statute of the structure PACE President  should be unbiased, and not become the lobbyist of the concrete country. In this context she touched upon Pedro Agramunt’s visit to Azerbaijan after being elected PACE President and the statements contradicting the activities of the OSCE Minsk Group on the NKR in Baku.

In the course of the meeting the sides also referred to the activities of the Political Group of the European Conservatives and Reformists (ECR), the member of which is Mr Pritchard. The interlocutors emphasized the cooperation of the parliamentary political forces of our country.

On the same day the Head of Armenia-Great Britain Friendship Group Levon Martirosyan, the member of the Group Karine Atshemyan, Naira Karapetyan and the NA deputy Koryun Nahapetyan met with the Member of the House of Commons of the United Kingdom, Member of the British Delegation to PACE Mark Pritchard.

During the meeting issues regarding Armenia-Great Britain parliamentary cooperation were discussed. The Armenian parliamentarians attached importance to the cooperation existing between the two countries and its deepening.

The sides also discussed the events going on in the region, particularly touched upon the problems of the Armenian communities in the Near East and Middle East countries, Armenia-European Union cooperation, as well as the inner policy of Great Britain.
