On January 15 the Head of the RA NA Standing Committee on Foreign Relations Artak Zakaryan met with the delegation headed by Mr.
James
Appathurai, the
NATO Secretary General’s Special Representative in the Caucasus and
Welcoming the guest, Artak Zakaryan highlighted the development of Armenia-NATO relations and mentioned that it is in the centre of attention of all the political forces represented in the parliament.
According to him, year by year
Artak Zakaryan noted that parliamentary delegations actively participate in all the events of NATO PA, drawing more attention to the regional issues.
The importance of ratification of the RA several agreements with NATO was presented for further cooperation.

James Appathurai noted that there were important spheres in the NATO Individual Partnership Action Plan, the priority among which is given to the intensification of parliamentary supervision.
During the meeting the Deputy Tevan Poghosyan touched upon Armenia-NATO interaction, spotlighting parliamentary supervision program. He considered necessary to study and master the effective experience of countries with advanced security and various parliamentary committees.
Summerizing the meeting, Artak Zakaryan once again drew James Appathurai’s attention to the the Azerbaijani-NK conflict settlement, highlighting the role of the NATO and all the international structures to condemn Azerbaijani all the adventurist and incendiary actions, as well as in undertaking steps for shaping atmosphere of confidence between all the conflicting parties.
Issues of mutual interest were also touched upon. Artak Zakaryan also answered issues raised by James Appathurai.
