On February 26 the parliament continued its work. Before voting the draft decision “On Establishing an Ad-hoc Inquiry Committee on the Activity of the Gas Supply System of the Republic of Armenia” the Head of the ANC faction Levon Zurabyan has announced that the faction will vote for the draft decision and will take part in the works of the Committee. The Secretary of the PAP faction Naira Zohrabyan has informed the deputies that they would take part in the works, but they would vote abstained. As a result of voting, the NA draft decision was passed.
The NA Speaker Hovik Abrahamyan also put for voting the the NA draft decision “On Establishing the RA NA Ad-hoc Inquiry Committee on the Reasons of Privatization of Nairit Factory CJSC, Assumed Credit Obligations and Non-Fulfillment of the Economic Activity with Necessary Volume” authored by the ARF faction. Before voting the Head of the RPA faction Galust Sahakyan has noted that the faction will vote against it. As a result of voting, the NA draft decision was not passed.
Then the deputies welcomed the pupils of Yerevan School N 97 who were in the parliament within the framework of Open Doors Programme and were following the procedure of the NA sitting.
The National Assembly continued voting the NA draft decision “On Establishing an RA NA Inquiry Ad-Committee on the Events Undertaken by the RA Police, Special Investigative Service, the RA Prosecutor General Office for the Cases of Causing Ten Persons’ Murders, Gunshot and Other Bodily Injuries to the Civilians, Police Officers and Servicemen in the City of Yerevan on March 1-2, 2008 and Its Substantiation and Legality” authored by the deputies of the ANC faction.
The key reporter Gagik Jhangiryan answered the deputies’ questions mainly relating to the March 1 events and the events following it, the provisions of the draft decision, the expediency of establishing such a Committee for the second time and the spheres of its activity and the spheres of its activity, the study of international experience of establishing similar committees, etc.
By the NA deputy Maragarit Yesayan’s proposal the deputies paid tribute with one-minute silence the memory of the March 1, 2008 victims.
The NA deputies Stepan Demirchyan, Hrant Bagratyan, Hovhannes Margaryan and Gurgen Arsenyan expressed their viewpoints on the abovementioned issue.
The debate of the issue will continue at February 27 NA sitting.
According to the established order of the NA Rules of Procedure, at the last hour of the Wednesday sitting the members of the government answered the deputies’ questions.
