On December 13 the RA NA Standing Committee on Health Care, Maternity and Childhood organized a meeting with the representatives of a number of NGOs to discuss their proposals on legislative initiatives. The Committee Chairman Ara Babloyan assured that the recommendations presented during these discussions and the raised problems would be at the center of the Committee’s attention, and the optimal proposals would be included in the draft laws.

Presenting the last year results of their project, the Chief Party of the USAID Healthcare System Strengthening in Armenia (HS STAR) R. Hagan thanked the Committee for paying great attention to the civil society’s opinion while solving the problems and for involving them in legislative works.

The representatives of the NGOs “Armenian Center of Healthcare Initiatives,” “Trust,” “Helsinki Civil Assembly Vanadzor Office” presented recommendations on amendments to the RA Law “On Amending the RA Draft Law on Healthcare,”“On Encouraging Breast Feeding the Babies and Children’s Food Circulation,” “On Amending the RA Law on Psychiatric Aid,” “On Sanitary-Epidemiological Security Provision” and others.

They had meetings in a number of marzes, made observations in a number of institutions, as a result of which, problems arose and they were included in the presented recommendations.

In his final speech Ara Babloyan thanked the participants of the initiative for submitting useful recommendations and assured those present that they would be taken into consideration while amending the draft laws. The representatives of the NGOs also expressed readiness to continue the cooperation.
