Answer by the RA NA Deputy Speaker Eduard Sharmazanov to the Deputy Prime Minister of Turkey
1 / 1

The RA NA Deputy Speaker Eduard Sharmazanov made a statement in response to the statement made by the Deputy Prime Minister of Turkey Bekir Bozdağ in Baku today. The latter, touching upon the statement made by the RA President Serzh Sargsyan, according to which, “Karabakh has been, is and remains an Armenian land,” has said that “Karabakh is a Turkish land, and that the territory is illegally occupied.” Bozdağ has noted that the Armenian-Turkish relations will not be settled, the borders won’t be opened, unless the Armenian troops have not been taken from Karabakh.”

In response to Bozdağ’s statement, the RA NA Deputy Speaker Eduard Sharmazanov has said:

“To the knowledge of stubbornly incomprehensive Turkish Deputy Prime Minister I’ll inform him that not only Artsakh is an Armenian land, but also the state not having any historical relation to the Turkish tribes, Turkey, the citizen of which is the Turkish official. I’ll remind him that the present Turkey has been created on the basis of the Greek and Armenian historical territories, annihiliating the native Armenian and Greek population.

And regarding Karabakh being “occupied,” then here the Azerbaijanis and Turks have to do some work. In Mr Sharmazanov’s word, “the Azerbaijanis should take their troops out of the occupied Shahumian and Getashen, and Turkey - from the Northern Cyprus.”
