RA NA Speaker Hosts the Future Pedagogues

On February 29 within the framework of the “Open Lesson” programme of the National Assembly students and lecturers of the faculties of biology, chemistry and geography of Khachatur Abovyan Armenian State Pedagogical University visited the parliament. After taking part in the works of the ongoing four-day sittings and following the parliamentary activities they met with the RA NA Speaker Samvel Nikoyan. A warm and intimate talk was held between the Head of the Parliament and future pedagogues: the scope of the issues concerning the students ready for dialogue was wide and inclusive.

At the end of the meeting the NA Speaker highlighted the profession of the pedagogue enjoying demand and honour in all times. He has noted that the state permanently has been taking steps within its possibilities for the solution of the problems relating to the educational sphere, which will be continuous. In Mr Nikoyan’s word, having proper educational system is one of the important components of having a healthy society and good state. The Parliament Speaker talked about the separation of the three wings of power and mechanisms of checks and balances stipulated by the Constitution in order to make the state administration system completely understandable for the students. As the students were present in the stormy debates of the legislative package “On Legal Regime of the State of Emergency” at the NA sitting, Mr Nikoyan detailed the peculiarities of the legislative amendments.

Touching upon the problem of separating the high schools from the basic school the NA Speaker has noted that there is a problem of efficiency of educational system. He has stressed that it’s not right to have separate educational system for Armenia, and our country should be integrated into European educational system.

The questions concerning the university students were various. They referred to equipping the laboratories of the village schools, raising the quality of education in the marzes, the efficiency of the Bologna system, the problem of credit system, the legislative amendments being made in future in the sphere of education, to which the NA Speaker touched upon and answered in detail.

One of the students was interested in the fact why the Constitutional Council of France refused the bill of criminalizing the Genocide denial, including the Armenian Genocide. Mr Nikoyan has underlined that the struggle in all-human values and other interests. Noting that the denial was painful, Mr Nikoyan welcomed the French President’s consistency in the issue of passing the bill. According to the NA Speaker, putting into circulation every such draft law gives an opportunity to the international community once again touch upon and discuss the problem.
