Farewell Visit of the Ambassador of Ukraine to the Parliament

The President of the RA National Assembly Hovik Abrahamyan on September 17 received the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Ukraine to the Republic of Armenia Alexander Bozhko on the occasion of the end of the diplomatic mission.

The NA President thanked the Ambassador for his contribution based on long-year, effective work and traditional friendship and understanding in the Armenian-Ukrainian relations and wished success in the future work. The NA President emphasized the activation of the inter-parliamentary cooperation, noting the mutual visits would more strengthen the existing friendly relations and would be an impetus for mutually beneficial multilateral cooperation between the two countries. Mr. Abrahamyan considered necessary the cooperation in the international structures. Touching upon the Armenian-Ukrainian relations, Hovik Abrahamyan noted that they had good perspectives of development in the political, economic, cultural and other spheres: the parties signed more than 60 inter-state, inter-governmental and inter-departmental treaties and agreements.

The Ambassador Bozhko thanked the NA President for effective cooperation, noting that during his 5-year tenure Armenia registered considerable success in different spheres. Highly assessing the current level of the bilateral relations Mr. Bozhko expressed conviction that there was big potential, particularly in the inter-parliamentary relations. He said that in the upcoming years a Chair of Armenian studies will be created on his initiative in Kiev State University.

During the meeting the sides touched upon the possible visit of the President of the Supreme Rada of Ukraine Vladimir Litvin to Armenia, which would promote the development of cooperation of the parliaments of the two countries. They discussed other issues of bilateral interest, too.
