On May 8, the Chairman of the Standing Committee on Protection of Human Rights and Public Affairs of the National Assembly Mr. Mkhitar Mnatsakanyan received the delegation, headed by Ms. Eva Biaudet, the Special Representative of the OSCE on Combating Trafficking in Human Beings. Mr. Rafik Petrosyan, Deputy Chairman of the committee and Mr. Volodya Badalyan, member of the committee participated in the meeting.

Welcoming the guests, Chairman of the committee Mr. Mkhitar Mnatsakanyan presented in detail the work done on combating trafficking, noting that the exploitation of people is the centre of attention of the Committee and the committee is constantly turning to the works of all those agencies, dealing with trafficking. The Committee cooperates with the state bodies as well as with NGOs and International Organizations, related to this issue.

Ms. Eva Biaudet, the Special Representative of the OSCE on Combating Trafficking in Human Beings said that a great deal of work has been done in the Committee in the aspect of examination of that area. According to her the causes of the issue should be examined and solutions should be found.

Mr. Rafik Petrosyan, Deputy Chairman of the committee, said that the committee, realizing the necessity of the issue and taking into consideration a number of laws, as well as the provisions of the conventions of 2000 and 2005, developed a draft law on Combating Trafficking. The draft law aims to create centers in Yerevan as well as in the provinces for effectively combating trafficking.
