On March 6, the Chair of the Standing Committee on Foreign Relations of the National Assembly Sargis Khandanyan received the Deputy-Director General and the Head of the Department for European Security Policy at the Swedish Ministry for Foreign Affairs, the Ambassador Johan Frisell.

The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Sweden to the RA Patrik Svensson was present at the meeting.

Welcoming the guests, Sargis Khandanyan valued the cooperation with Sweden. The Committee Chair spoke about the effective interaction between the Parliaments, underlining the active role of the Friendship Groups. Reference was also made to the bilateral cooperation on international platforms.

Sargis Khandanyan presented the current security situation and the challenges in the region.

They touched upon the bilateral cooperation in various fields within the RA-EU framework. The Committee Chair highlighted the deployment of the EU Civilian Observation Mission aimed at the objective assessment of the situation on the border of Armenia and ensuring peace.

Sargis Khandanyan highly appreciated the support of the Swedish Government in the implementation of the reforms taking place in Armenia. In this context, reference was made to the Modern Parliament for a Modern Armenia (MAP) project implemented with the support of Sweden.
