On August 9 Mr. Galust Sahakyan, member of the National Assembly Standing Committee on State and Legal Affairs, head of the Republican faction of the Parliament met Armenian teachers from Diaspora, who attend a training at the “Diaspora” scientific-educational center.
Director of the center Mr. Souren Danielyan noted, that it’s already several years that they are working on creating a Motherland-Diaspora common educational space and Armenian teachers from 42 countries have already been trained in the Motherland. This time 70 teachers from Armenian schools and educational institutions from 14 countries took part in the meeting.
Mr. Galust Sahakyan noted that the mission of the Armenian schools especially abroad is maintaining the Armenian identity, and the teachers are the ones who sustain the knowledge and significance of the Armenian language. Mr. Sahakyan answered to the teachers' questions that mainly concerned the possibility of reintroducing the traditional orthography, maintaining Armenian schools in Georgia, educational concepts, providing the schools abroad with textbooks and books, as well as the forthcoming parliamentary elections.
