Government proposes amendments to law on Road Transport
1 / 4

The Law on Road Transport defines the basic requirements for the organization of regular passenger transport, including the conditions for revising the transport fare for implementing the service of the route. After operating the joint route networks of regions, there is a necessity to review the routes presented in the tender, taking into consideration the actual passenger flow. The RA Deputy Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure Armen Simonyan said this while presenting the draft law on Making Amendments and Addenda to the Law on Road Transport for debate.

According to the rapporteur, by the current law, after the organization of the route network of regular passenger transportation competitively, there are no regulations for setting the transportation fee in case of changes in the routes.

According to the Deputy Minister, the requirements for the number of vehicles adapted for people with disabilities serving intra-community regular passenger transportation of multi-residential communities are also being reviewed.

Armen Simonyan answered the deputies’ questions. The Deputy Minister mentioned that the above-mentioned last amendment is conditioned by the enlargement of the communities.

The deputy Armen Khachatryan inquired about the organization of regular passenger transportation in the communities. In response, Armen Simonyan noted that a schedule for conducting tenders was fixed by the Minister’s order.

The rapporteur underlined that some wordings will be clarified based on the proposals made by the MPs from the first to the second reading.

The initiative authored by the Government was debated in the first reading and was adopted in the extraordinary session convened on July 11.
