Dear compatriots,

I congratulate you on First Republic Day!

Being the citizen of the Republic, as it was an unknown reality for those times, nevertheless, it was the beginning of the new era, which would be irreversible for reaching democracy and the Republic of our days.

The Republic created at the fatal moment for our people was the important embodiment of expression of will and libertarianism through self-organization and elections.

Every year this day, we remember with pride the Sardarabat, Bash-Aparan, Gharakilisa heroic battles, that took place in May 1918, our heroes, whose incredible feats glorify our identity and feed our essence. Moreover, it is written  in different works on our fight for survival: “The battle was won, Armenia was saved.”

The First Republic had no long life, but it left irrevocable lessons in the pages of Armenian History, which give great opportunity to the generations for study, confrontation and pondering.

The year 1918 is the symbol and the heritage of our country’s rebirth, the cornerstone of our statehood, and we have responsibility for preserving and strengthening its positive and permanent values.

Congratulations First Republic of Armenia! We bow honouring the memory of the heroes fallen on the road of statehood and the statesmen building it.
