Within the framework of the Seismic Safety Improvement Programme, the Chair of the RA NA Standing Committee on Science, Education, Culture, Diaspora, Youth and Sport Sisak Gabrielyan and the RA Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport Zhanna Andreasyan visited Abovyan city to get acquainted with the construction works of No. 2 basic school in Abovyan city in Kotayk province on May 17. They talked with the school Headmaster on the spot, got acquainted with the process of construction works.
According to the Headmaster of No. 2 basic school in Abovyan city Artur Tashchyan, after carrying out technical works and researches in the school, it was found out that the foundations of the school building are damaged and quite dangerous. That is why it was decided to include the school in that programme, and now renovation works are in process. He expressed hope that the teaching process will be organized more effectively in the new building conditions.
On the same day, the Committee Chair Sisak Gabrielyan and the Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport Zhanna Andreasyan visited the school being built in Katnaghbyur settlement of Abovyan community as well, and got acquainted with the problems that arose during the construction works.
It was noted that the school is being built on the principle of modular schools. According to the constructor, the students of the settlement will have the opportunity to start the academic year in a new school on September 1 of this year.
The Chair of the NA Standing Committee on Science, Education, Culture, Diaspora, Youth and Sport Sisak Gabrielyan mentioned that there is a clear requirement: schools should be equipped with laboratories, laboratories for science subjects, as well as with necessary facilities. Importance is also given to having a shelter in the area of schools.
On the same day, Sisak Gabrielyan and the Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport also visited the theater-studio of Yeghvard city, which was founded in October 2022. They walked around the territory of the theater, got acquainted with the conditions of the hall, watched a part of the innovative plastic performance “Amanda.”
According to the founder of the theater-studio Ani Vardanyan, the idea of creating this small cultural centre is to activate cultural life in the community. She informed that in the near future they are planning to stage the play “The Little Prince,” which will arouse interest among the students, because they are already familiar with that work in the school curriculum.
Ani Vardanyan informed that about 20 children visit the studio and expressed hope that the number of them will increase in the future.
Sisak Gabrielyan, welcoming the idea, stated that this beautiful little theater-studio, founded by two young actors who work at the same time in the state theater, is another opportunity to revitalize the cultural life in Yeghvard.
