On May 11, the RA NA President Alen Simonyan received the delegation led by the Chairperson of the Regional Policy and Self-Government Committee of Parliament of Georgia Kakha Kakhishvili.

Current issues regarding the joint agenda of the two parliaments were discussed at the meeting. The RA NA President noted that active cooperation has been taking place between the standing committees of the parliaments of our countries recently. Reference was made to the joint first sitting of the Foreign Relations Committees to be held in Tbilisi in the next few days and to the visit of the delegation of the Sector Economy and Economic Policy Committee of Parliament of Georgia to Yerevan in the second half of May.

The RA NA President stated that the Armenian side attaches great importance to decentralized cooperation.

Speaking from the Armenian community of Georgia, Kakha Kakhishvili mentioned that he represents the region densely populated by Armenians in Parliament and being familiar with the issues that concern the Armenian community, he emphasized the strengthening of Armenian-Georgian relations and the development of multi-sector cooperation. He highlighted economic and cultural contacts, noting that the mission of promoting and developing strong neighbourly ties is assigned to Armenian and Georgian officials.

During the conversation, the importance of steps aimed at strengthening regional security and stability was underlined, recording that the high level of relations between Armenia and Georgia is one of the important factors in ensuring security in the South Caucasus.
