Support of International Colleagues in Capacity and Skills Development of Deputies and Staff Highlighted

The UN Development (UNDP) Modern Parliament for a Modern Armenia (MAP) supports the capacity development of the parliament through training, expertise, and consultation.

On May 16, the Project Board Meeting of the UN Development (UNDP) Modern Parliament for a Modern Armenia was held where the RA NA President Alen Simonyan took part.

By the conviction of the NA deputy, the Coordinator of the MAP Project appointed by the NA President Hripsime Grigoryan, the steps aimed at making the parliament more open for the public shall be continuous.

The Deputy Head of Mission of the Embassy of Sweden to Armenia Annika Nordin Jayawardena and the UNDP Resident Representative in Armenia Natia Natsvlishvili touched upon the project activities related to the Research and Training Center, Parliamentary Democracy Centre as well as the significance of the Project in the context of the rule of law and democracy development. The need of the support in the sphere of the legislative reforms was especially recorded.

The Chief Technical Adviser of the UNDP Modern Parliament for a Modern Armenia Biljana Ledenican presented the results and indicators of the Project.

“This type of projects are of particular importance, especially in this hard situation, when every employee’s professionalism, capacity development, achievement of the new experience is a great impetus for overcoming the challenges and the effective work,” underline d the NA Chief of Staff, Secretary General Vahan Naribekyan.

The NA Chief of Staff thanked his colleagues for the support, expressing hope that the mutual trust and the cooperation will be continuous.

The participants of the meeting expressed readiness to continue and improve the traditions of close cooperation.
