The issue of the election of the Deputy Chair of the Committee was on the agenda of the extraordinary sitting of the NA Standing Committee on Defense and Security held on December 21. This time the NA Armenia Faction did not nominate a candidate for the post of the Deputy Chair of the Committee too.
The Chair of the Standing Committee Andranik Kocharyan reminded that at the previous sitting of the Committee, the NA Civil Contract Faction gave time to the Armenia Faction to nominate a candidate for the post of the Deputy Chair of the Committee, otherwise, the ruling political force would nominate its candidate. He has also emphasized that the NA legal regulations allow the parliamentary majority to nominate a candidate for the post of the Deputy Chair.
“As a manifestation of good will or let them understand as they want, I have announced that the Armenia Faction can start to hold consultation with the Civil Contract Faction, because we are also ready to organize debate related to their candidate. And since such proposal has remained suspended, today I remind you once again that the Civil Contract Faction has not nominated a candidate in order to give the leadership of the Armenia Faction an opportunity to come to a consensus with the Civil Contract Faction. If it does not happen, I think that during our next extraordinary sitting, the Civil Contract Faction will nominate its candidate,” Andranik Kocharyan said.
