On October 6, the RA National Assembly continued the work of the regular sittings.

The parliamentarians debated in the second reading the draft law on Making Amendment and Addendum to the RA Law on Remuneration of the Persons Holding State Positions and State Service Positions authored by the Government, which proposed to expand the scope of the social package services providing to the persons holding state positions and state service positions.

According to the key rapporteur, the RA Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Ruben Sargsyan, after the first reading the edited version proposed by the Government was debated and adopted in the Head Committee. Ruben Sargsyan noted that the proposals submitted by the NA Armenia Faction were not accepted.

The co-rapporteur, the Chair of the NA Standing Committee on Labor and Social Affairs Heriknaz Tigranyan called on to vote for the bill.

In their speeches, the deputies touched upon the idea of social-labor guarantee and the necessity to expand the scope of social package services.

In his final speech, Ruben Sargsyan clarified the issues related to the non-acceptance of the proposals submitted by the NA Armenia Faction. According to him, the purpose of the amendments is to increase the efficiency of employees’ work, and the issue of the compensation for the proposed directions can be resolved by other mechanisms and programmes.

The Secretary of the Armenia Faction Artsvik Minasyan has informed that the faction will abstain from voting on the bill.

The parliament adopted the debated draft laws by voting.

Pursuant to the law on the NA Rules of Procedure, the RA Prime Minister and the members of the Government answered to the deputies’ questions.
