At October 5 sitting, the RA National Assembly debated the issue of the election of the RA Public Services Regulatory Commission (PSRC).
The NA Vice President Ruben Rubinyan informed that the NA opposition factions nominated Ara Nranyan for the post of the member of the RA Public Services Regulatory Commission as an agreed united candidate. The issue was debated by the order established by Article 135 of the law the NA Rules of Procedure.
The deputy Lilit Galstyan presented the biographical data, the professional features and the working activities of the united candidate of the NA Armenia and With Honor Factions. According to her, the two factions are convinced that their candidate is endowed with human and professional necessary qualities, which will let to be led by public interest, balance the interests of the state, economy and consumer.
Ara Nranyan thanked the NA Armenia and With Honor Factions for nomination of his candidacy, as well as the political majority for organizing the debate of his candidacy at the NA sitting.
According to the candidate, the Committee should carry out activity balancing the all sides’ interests. Speaking about the problems of the energy sphere, Nranyan assessed positive the construction of the new power plant. According to him, the traditional energy has no alternative for the coming years, energy saving and the alternative energy development are necessary, however it is not necessary to ensure the stability of the energy security only by that. The candidate opined that Armenia, being the EAEU member, should also actively take part in the works of formation of the united energy market. Touching upon the problem of the gas liberalization, the rapporteur has noticed that the ongoing processes in Europe show that the stability of the system is much more important.
Ara Nranyan also referred to the problems existing in the water sphere, talked about the problems of the payments of the infrastructure use, the postal service and communication.
The member of the RA Public Services Regulatory Commission is elected by secret ballot by the majority of the deputies’ total number votes.
Afterwards, the Chairman of the NA Counting Committee, Narek Babayan presented the order, the venue and the hour of voting.
