At May 19 sitting of the NA Standing Committee on Territorial Administration, Local Self-Government, Agriculture and Environment, the RA Deputy Minister of Environment Tigran Simonyan in the first reading presented for debate the draft law on Amending the RA Water Code.

The Deputy Minister has noted that it is proposed to design refusal of bids for water use permissions being provided to the small hydro power plants in the case, when the construction of the small hydro power plant is envisaged in the specially protected nature territories.

According to Tigran Simonyan, the adoption of the draft law will promote the preservation of the specially protected nature territories and the development of the economy.

The bill was endorsed by the Committee.
