Issues on Development of Armenian-Spanish Relations Discussed

On May 7, the Chair of the RA NA Standing Committee on Foreign Relations Ruben Rubinyan, the Deputy Chair Hovhannes Igityan, the Committee member Arman Babajanyan, the Head of the RA NA Armenia-Spain Friendship Group Sos Avetisyan met with the Delegation headed by the State Secretary of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Spain Fernando Valenzuela.

Welcoming the guests the Committee Chair talked about the Armenian-Spanish good-neighbourly relations and highlighted the development of the two states’ inter-parliamentary ties. He touched upon the cooperation in the international parliamentary organizations.

Speaking about the ratification process of Armenia-EU Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement by the EU member countries, Fernando Valenzuela assured that the document would be ratified soon by Spain.

Touching upon the peaceful settlement of Nagorno Karabakh problem, the Committee Chair presented the positions of the Armenian side, talked about the necessity of involving Artsakh as a negotiating side.

Ruben Rubinyan also referred to the importance of the Armenian Genocide international recognition, underlining that Spain had not recognized yet.

As a representative of EU member country, the State Secretary of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Spain expressed his viewpoint for the launch of the dialogue process over the issue of the visa regime liberalisation with Armenia.

The Armenian parliamentarians talked about the opportunities of the Armenian-Spanish cooperation in a number of spheres.
