On April 18 NA Standing Committee on Science, Education, Culture and Youth and the Youth Parliamnet began “Women and the Youth Against Genocide” event with planting trees in the area adjacent to Genocide monument of Tsitsernakaberd, where MPs, representatives of the Youth Parliament and journalists took part. The planted 90 trees symbolize the 90th anniversary of Armenian Genocide and as the Committee Chairman Hranush Hakobyan mentioned tree planting bears a symbol of not only respecting the memory of the victims of the Genocide perpetrated by the Turkish authorities, but also a symbol of hope, faith and longevity withstanding the evil. The participants of tree planting honored the memory of the victims of Armenian Genocide by putting flowers on their monument.
“Women and the Youth Against Genocide” continued the event by exhibiting the woman painters’ works, which took place in Arno Babajanyan hall. The paintings that were telling us about the cruelty, refusing the evil, had a symbol of praising the life, victory of the beauty and the good.
After the exhibition a conference condemning the Genocide followed. NA MP Hranush Hakobyan connected the necessity of condemning the cruel crime organized by the Turkish authorities at the beginning of 20th century, first of all, with that such calamities wouldn’t take place any more. “The present authorities, the legal successor of the Young Turks, refusing the inhuman crime against Armenians at the beginning of the 20th century justify it and do not exclude the possibility of such Genocide, which should sober and make all the countries condemn it, that Genocide was not only against Armenians but - mankind”.
After the conference dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide, a cultural event was held.
