On April 12 the National Assembly continued the works of the four-day sittings.

Davit Lokyan, Minister of Agriculture submitted to the parliament in the second reading the draft laws “On Amending and Adding RA law ‘On Seeds’ and “On Food Security,’” noting that the MPs’ presented proposals were adopted, as a result of which the laws were elaborated on. The head committees endorsed the drafts.

Then Davit Lokyan proposed for debate in the parliament the agreement on the loan program between the Republic of Armenia and International Fund of Agricultural Development /Economic Development Program of Agricultural Areas/ signed on January 28 in Rome. In case of its ratification 10 mln USD credit will be allocated for the development of the agricultural sphere. The residents of north-eastern marzes of the republic, Tavush, Gegharkunik, Lori, Shirak, Vayots Dzor, Aragatsotn and Syunik, in particular, poor farmers, the present and potential owners and employees of micro, small and medium agricultural and rural enterprises will be credited.

The program will work in two terms: long-term – 70% and short term – 30%. The long-term credit will be with the percentage rate up to 9% and term of 7-year payment. All banks of the republic will implement the crediting.

The NA Standing Committee on Foreign Relations and on Financial-Credit, Budgetary and Economic Affairs endorsed the agreement.
